Why Acclivity?
Acclivity in geologic terms means an upward slope. I used the name when I was running a mountain bike race promotion company back when I lived in Utah, but that is not really the question that I am asking.
Why Acclivity? Why follow this blog?
Because most of the other financial blogs are not for people like me, barely struggling to make ends meet for years, declaring bankruptcy, wracking up debt after, and finally finding out a way to be debt-free.
Other Financial Blogs Make it Seem Easy
There are many other financial blogs, and they cater to those of us that want to be successful. They talk about putting away 10 percent of their income each paycheck to save for retirement, have an emergency fund, make more money, spend less, budget and retire early.
The reality of all of this, things happen. You buy a house at the top of the market only to have it fall out from underneath you in less than a year. Your salary gets cut while your insurance premiums rise. You have a $3000 family deductible for an insurance policy that you pay nearly $800 a month for and then illness strikes.
Most of us are living paycheck to paycheck or are one disaster away from financial ruin. So how do you manage to save in a crisis? How do you build wealth when your last dollar is feeding a family a four.
Researching Helps
I read quite a bit, and laugh when someone replies just make more money. If it were only that easy. We would all be wealthy if the answers were simple.
This blog will go through the pitfalls of finance. The mistakes in budgeting, the bankruptcy, and the financial outfall of all of that. Hopefully, you will learn from this in the same way that I learned finally how to manage money.
It is now a game for me. I watch my balances on my credit cards slowly disappear and cannot wait to pay off more. I am obsessed with paying off my cards in hopes that it is not too late to start living the life that I want.
To slowly climb the hill to financial success and not make the same mistakes I once did, and that is where the name Acclivity comes from.
